Evaluation Question 2.

How does your media project represent particular social groups?

Our media project represents the working social class in particular. this is because during the opening minutes of our film the main characters costumes are stereotypically associated with the working class. Our media project portray and represent the working class in a negative way. Also our film opening also has a stereotypical representation of the ages involved within the film opening.
the characters are relatively young ranging within the teenage years and a young adults. they also fulfil the self fulfilling prophecy and live up to their stereotypes in which a young age is usually associated with getting up to mischeif, drugs alcohol and partying. The environment in which the characters are situated also helps to emphasise the conditions in which the working class stereotypically live in. The way in which the characters act can also be related to the actions of the working class and teenagers. The way the characters walk, talk, behave and put themselves across to the audience can play a big part in how the the social class and particular age are represented in the film.
We made a few technical choices to help us follow the conventions and stereotypes of the social class and age we were aiming to portray. The diagetic sound and speech is very stereotypical of the working class as the characters use words and catch phrases such as "Alright mate" which are usually related to the working class as you do not hear upper class people using such phrases. The diagetic sound above the the film opening is also very stereotypical of young adults and working class. the sound is usually associated with urban streets. The music is very grime like and R&B style. The lighting in the opening scene is external lighting and very dark as it is night time. This helps to create an atmosphere in which the opening fim scene is trying to emphasis and put across to the audience. The street lights also help to create the urban setting in which the scene is supposed to be set in.
